Couple in the Milky Way

I believe many backpackers find it quite amusing to watch “Eurotrip” and dream about their journey on the European continent. My story was a little bit different because my dream started with the Before Trilogy and my dream city, Vienna.

At the time I was in Vienna, there were no smartphones to check train hours or follow the trails on Google maps. We had old-school maps and guides for everything. The rest of our backpacks are stuffed with too many souvenirs, snacks, and notebooks to record every memory of the cities. The first and most important thing was to find a local spot within the city to understand the people, their tastes, their habits, etc. Sometimes it was a sign that led us to this cosy restaurant or cafe, and other travellers on the road would share their favourite spots with us.

I always think of Vienna as my starting point because, luckily, I first started to record everything about my trip in Vienna. After 12 years of taking photos, notes, and every inch of the streets that I walked, it became my new home. But then I found out the things that I was planning to share, already lost or closed. I realised, my stories might become legends. Because many places began to close, stories died within these locations without being shared by many people.

It was then that I again opened all my notes and gathered the photos, receipts, and all the other stuff that we’ve saved from our travels. I must warn you, the following posts and guides will not be cheap or expensive guides for the cities. It will just show our perspective of cities by showing more local spots in a more adventurous way, and you have to interact with more and more people in order to love the cities.

The place is called “Zu den 2 Lieserln.” It was my first schitzel experience in Vienna and I am still arguing that it has a better taste than the current famous ones.

Vienna is where we live, so we’re keeping it for last. Starting in the far west of Europe, we’ll write everything every two weeks if nothing important comes up. Our list already has 11 cities saved, and London is the next one on our list. We hope you will like these.
